Mali and the difficulty of seeking truth under fire
Mali’s Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission is coming to the end of its three-year mandate. But it is only just starting to deploy in the regions hit by the crises that it is investigating. This is mainly because of a decline in security. Even in the regions where the Commission is active, the bulk of its work remains to be done. Over 10,000 statements have been gathered, but no public hearings have yet taken place.
