Canada: A “year of inaction” on genocide of indigenous women
It was a shock on 3 June 2019 when Canada's National Inquiry on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls pointed to an ongoing genocide of indigenous people as being at the root of these specific violations. A year on, the Inquiry commissioners denounce "a year of inaction" and "lack of transparency", urging the government to submit its action plan to the "external oversight" of an impartial organization.
